If you're looking for a taste of the 'burbs but aren't prepared to move outside of the city limits, this two bedroom, one-and-a-half bath duplex rental in the southern Brooklyn  might make for a good test run. The semi-detached house comes with all the convenience (and some of the decor) one would expect to find on Long Island, including a garage, a fireplace, and a full laundry room. There are also some unusual perks, including yard with a gazebo and deck with a stone fire pit.

The apartment is listed by Corcoran for an ambitious $6,500, so in this instance, suburban comfort in the boroughs doesn't come cheap.

On the first floor, an entry foyer leads to an open plan living and dining area, where large bay windows brighten the space and a massive stone fireplace keeps things cozy. The square footage is especially impressive in the kitchen, which comes with plentiful storage and counter space, plus high-end appliances, including a wine refrigerator.

The two bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the second floor, and the master comes with a gas fireplace and walk-in closet that could easily pass for a bedroom in plenty of other New York City apartments. The bathroom, shared by the two bedrooms, has a walk-in shower with stone tile.

Out back, the gazebo looks like a nice place to sit outdoors in the warm weather. An elevated deck has room for lounging, and in cool weather, space to gather around the fire pit. The house is a 20 minute walk from D, N, and R stops in different directions, and about 10 minutes' walk from an express bus stop. Generally speaking, you're looking at about an hour getting into Midtown. Also, come the holidays, you'll be well situated to take in the neighborhood's famous Christmas lights displays
