We're about to reach peak Hamptons and North Fork buying season, but if you get in now you may be able to avoid a bidding war on this $939,000 five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath house, in Cutchogue on the North Fork of Long Island.

The 1920 house has an in-ground saltwater pool and a three-car garage, and clocks in at 3,500 square feet.

There's a bright living room made brighter by a skylight and fireplace. Plus, there's an adjacent enclosed porch that looks like a sunny spot for reading.

There seem to be bedrooms of all sizes, perfect for kids and guests alike.

According to the listing, the house is steps away from a private bay beach, which means it could be ideal for visits year-round. It's also about $200,000 less than the median price of a Manhattan apartment. Then again, it's nearly twice as much as the median price for a single-family home in the North Fork. We'd imagine that water access has something to do with it.
