Facing the back of the building, this Murray Hill studio, 7 Park Ave., #4J, is super quiet, according to the listing—good for folks looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life in Manhattan, but still want to be close to the action. Its $395,000 list price—well below the $430,000 median for a studio in the neighborhood—is another draw.
The living space looks to be a good size, with high beamed ceilings, bright white walls, and hardwood floors throughout. A Murphy bed in the corner that can be discreetly tucked away when company comes is a nice touch.

There’s also room for a small two-seater dining table, a narrow desk, and a single chair. The minimalist vibe might work for some, but most owners would probably want to add a sofa in here somewhere, as well as a TV.

The windowed kitchen just off the living space is nice, and has a good amount of cabinets, actual usable counterspace, and a dishwasher (which isn’t always a given in a studio apartment). The dishwasher has a strange pattern on it, though—it’s either an oddly mismatched panel or some sort of bizarre contact paper coating. Whatever it is, it needs to go.

The bathroom, which still has the unit’s original porcelain tub, is fairly innocuous, with white tiled walls, a white vanity, and gold-toned fixtures, which will not be everyone’s cup of tea. The toilet looks to be of the old-school industrial variety.

The studio is in a co-op building designed by famed architect Emery Roth, and has a 24-hour doorman, a landscaped roof deck, and storage. It’s within walking distance of midtown, Grand Central, and the Empire State Building. Maintenance is $835 a month.
