New York City is famously walkable, but some neighborhoods are better served by retail than others, and that’s something which was highlighted by the pandemic, when New Yorkers shunned mass transit. 

Even if you're using transit these days, if you’re considering a move, you may want to search in neighborhoods where you can easily walk to grocery stores, pharmacies, and eateries. There’s a website, WalkScore.com, which rates how accessible these destinations are in a given neighborhood. 

Areas within a five-minute walk of essential destinations get maximum points. Scores ranging from 90 to 100 are neighborhoods where you can easily run errands by foot rather than depending on transit, a bike, or car. 

New York City in general has a Walk Score of 88, and some of the most walkable neighborhoods include Little Italy, Flatiron, and the West Village. 

So, if you want to live in an apartment where you can walk to get what you need, here are five apartments for sale in Kips Bay, Flatiron, West Village, Carnegie Hill and Gramercy Park with a Walk Score of around 100.
