The popular destination of Beacon, New York, is a hour-and-a-half Metro North ride from Manhattan and is a good place to consider if you want to move to a place where you can enjoy access to art and nature. 

Houses in Beacon are more affordable than some other in-demand New York City suburbs: the median sales price is $385,000, according to Here, you’ll find traditional, older houses as well as new construction. Many houses have views of nature and feature home offices and outdoor space, ideal in the Covid era.

Beacon was once a manufacturing town, but it’s now known for its art scene. At Dia Beacon, a contemporary art museum located in a former printing facility, there are works by Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois, Donald Judd, Andy Warhol, and other major contemporary artists. On Main Street, you’ll find local art galleries like Bannerman Island Gallery and Morphicism plus eateries like Max’s on Main, Tito Santana Taqueria, and The Pandorica.
