At about 350 square feet, this week's Small Wonder is certainly small—what else would you expect in Greenwich Village? But what we liked about this $2,350 studio (aside from its location on West Eighth between MacDougal and Sixth), are the charming details, like the decorative fireplace, the wide-planked wood floor and the pretty windows that offer garden views. (The apartment faces the back, so it's also probably pretty quiet.)
This week we're traveling out to Queens for a $249,000 co-op with high-end finishes and room to spare. In fact, looking at the photos, we're dying to put up a wall (with French doors perhaps?) and make this place into a one-bedroom -- for a little extra privacy.
We like the corner windows, but be aware that these appear to be the only windows in the apartment.
If you can get past the clutter in these photos, there's quite a bit to work with in this $2,500 two-bedroom in Fort Greene. It looks like the current renters managed to squeeze in a dining space, extra kitchen area, office space and living room into the main room. With a bit more organization, you could probably pull it off, too, and make it look a whole lot tidier.
