Growing up in Virginia, the city of Williamsburg (which is very different from its hip Brooklyn namesake) was a go-to place for many things: Learning about colonial history, finding deals at outlet malls, and going to amusement parks. I still try to take a trip there whenever I visit my family.

The historic city is also home to The College of William & Mary, The Williamsburg Pottery (when I was a kid there were huge warehouses of handmade pottery to explore–now it looks like a typical shopping center), and amusement parks including Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. And it’s part of the Historic Triangle, along with Yorktown and Jamestown, which was the first permanent English settlement in the U.S. in 1607.

I always like to have dinner at Oceans & Ale and there are plenty of other local restaurants like Fat Canary, Pierce’s, and Fat Tuna Grill. You can also find any chain restaurant you want if that’s your thing.

When it comes to buying a house here, the median sales price is $366,000, according to Realtor.com. You’ll find a mix of older homes and new construction, some of which are Colonials, naturally. If you want a house in a suburban setting with more privacy, you have plenty of options to choose from here.

So if Williamsburg, Virginia sounds like a fit, check out these five houses for sale in the area.
