Demand is high for houses in Austin, Texas, where buyers are bidding $100,000 above listing prices according to The Wall Street Journal. Why are buyers so eager to live here? There are lots of tech jobs (Apple, Facebook, and Google all have headquarters here), a happening cultural scene, and easy access to nature.

The city has recently seen the biggest surge in prices compared to other major U.S. cities: The median listing price increased by 6.1 percent to $529,000 last month, according to RealtyHop. A Zillow search shows more than 1,200 houses for sale across the city right now, but in neighborhoods closer to downtown, there are fewer options—and higher price points.

Just like New York City, Austin and its surrounding areas encompass many different neighborhoods, so you have to do your homework to find what fits your lifestyle. South Congress (or SoCo) and Zilker are closer to downtown while areas like Cherrywood and North Austin are farther out, but still have plenty to offer.

Another perk: There’s plenty to do in Austin. The South by Southwest film festival brings crowds from around the world and there are several other smaller festivals year round. There are several museums like The Contemporary Austin, Blanton Museum of Art, and LBJ Presidential Library. And if you’re the outdoorsy type, check out Barton Springs Pool, McKinney Falls State Park, and Jacob’s Well.

So if you’re thinking of relocating to Austin, check out these five houses for sale in the area.
