New York is second only to California when it comes to states with the priciest zip codes for residential real estate.

In a new study of the top 100 most expensive zip codes in the U.S. for residential real estate, RealtyHop found that New York has three of the 10 priciest zip codes. Sagaponack, New York’s 11962 zip code is fourth on the top 10 list with a $5,362,500 median asking price. Water Mill NY (11976) is eighth with $4,200,000, and Manhattan’s 10013 zip code takes 10th with $3,995,000.

The list is led by Atherton’s 94027 in California’s Silicon Valley, home to the tech industry’s elite, where the median listing price is $8,650,000; followed by Fisher Island, FL (33109), an exclusive enclave off the coast of Miami with only a few hundred houses that has a median list price of $6,500,000.

The ranking illustrates where pricey real estate is clustered: only 11 states are featured in the top 100 ranking, and 88 percent of listings are in California and New York. Los Angeles has 10 of the U.S.’s most expensive zip codes, the highest of any city. California has 68, followed by New York state with 20.
