If you’re looking for a new apartment in New York City this summer, you might want a place with central air to stay cool during future heat waves—and to avoid dealing with clunky window air conditioners.

When it comes to finding an apartment with this amenity, your best bet is to check out new developments. This means you’ll also benefit from other amenities fit for the season like roof decks, courtyards, and maybe even a pool.

Having central air also means the air in your apartment is filtered and cleaner to breathe. (Bonus: Less dust!) And since you get to skip the window unit, you don’t have to block natural light, worry about installing window brackets, or take up precious storage space for the rest of the year.

So to help with your apartment search this summer, here are five rentals with central air below $3,000 a month in Mott Haven, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Astoria, Bushwick, and South Harlem.
