The Hudson Valley is a good place to plan a last-minute summer getaway if you don't want to hit the beach this year. There are still some rentals available with rates considerably lower than what you will find at popular beach destinations like the Jersey Shore and the Hamptons.

Another plus: Hudson Valley is close to New York City so you don’t have to travel far. Depending on what town you go to, you can skip a car and take MetroNorth or Amtrak.

If you aren’t sure which area to visit, popular places include Kingston, a small city where you’ll find Kingston Uptown Historic District and local restaurants like Deisings and Savona’s and still have access to nature; Woodstock, where you can hike at Overlook Mountain and stroll down Tinker Street; Rhinbeck, where you can dine at historic Beekman Arms and picnic at riverfront parks like Rhinecliff Landing; Cold Spring, home to Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, and  Hudson, a popular LGBTQ destination with trendy shops and eateries along Warren Street.

So to help with your last-minute vacation plans, here are five rentals that are still available in Hudson, Woodstock, Hyde Park, Taghkanic, and Phoenicia.
