Paramus, New Jersey, offers the optimal perks of suburban living: Well-rated public schools, low property taxes, lots of shopping options, and a quick commute to New York City.

Located in Bergen County, the 10.5-square-mile suburb doesn't have a walkable downtown but it is known for its shopping destinations like Garden State Plaza, Paramus Park, Bergen Town Center plus it has an IKEA, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. You can also enjoy the outdoors at places like George Washington Memorial Park and Saddle River County Park. And it’s just about a 40-minute drive from NYC.

When it comes to buying a house here the median sales price is $727,000, according to Realtor.com. There are about 40 listings on the market now including split levels, Colonials, and a few new construction plans if you want to build a custom house.
