Are you looking to buy a vacation house in an area surrounded by nature and are finding yourself priced out of the Hudson Valley? Check out the Poconos, the vast mountainous region spread across four counties in northeast Pennsylvania.

That’s because you can buy a house here for much less compared to other popular vacation destinations. For example, the median sales price in Stroudsburg is $300,000, and in Milford it’s $286,000 according to Realtor.com. There are year-round outdoor activities, so you can rent out your vacation house when not in use.

Here you’ll find plenty of campgrounds, hiking trails, lakes, resorts, and parks. Some favorite destinations include Big Pocono State Park and Camelback Mountain Resort in Tannersville, Austin T. Blakeslee Natural Area in Blakeslee, Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Stroudsburg, and Bushkill Falls, known as the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania.

And for a break from the great outdoors, there’s Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival which is scheduled for April, and Columns Museum in Milford.

Sound like a fit? Check out these five houses for sale in the Poconos, including a four-bedroom Victorian for $470,000 in Stroudsburg.
