If you’re looking to buy an East End beach house without the Hamptons price tag, check out Mattituck, New York, a hamlet with a low-key vibe on the North Fork of Long Island.

The area is known for vineyards like Macari Vineyards, beaches like Bailie Beach Park and Veterans Beach, farm stands, marinas, and its annual strawberry festival, scheduled for June 15th-19th. There’s a quaint downtown area where you’ll find local spots like Love Lane Kitchen, East on Main, and North Fork Donut Company. And you can get there from Manhattan via the Long Island Railroad Station in two and a half hours.

When it comes to buying a house here, the median sales price is $899,000, according to Realtor.com. Right now there are a handful of listings including more affordable houses inland and a few multi-million dollar waterfront spreads.
