Beach season is coming to a close, but if you're considering investing in a beach house for next summer, there's no time like the present. If you enjoy the beach but would also like to be somewhere you could do some hiking and biking, consider Virginia Beach.
As its name suggests, Virginia Beach, located where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, has a beautiful beachfront and a thriving boardwalk, in addition to the fascinating Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. It's also home to First Landing State Park, where the first Jamestown settlers landed in 1607, and where you'll find trails that loop through forests, cypress swamps, and salt marsh.
If any of that sounds appealing, this three-bedroom, three-bath cabin at 220 65th St. is located just a few blocks from the ocean, and it has easy access to First Landing State Park. And while its location makes it definitively a beach house, it's also got enough rustic features to make you feel like you're living in the woods. It's on the market for $599,000.
The house's lower level has an open-floor living room/dining room combo, with super high ceilings and wood-paneled walls.
There's a gas fireplace in the living room, in addition to what looks like big sliding doors opening up to an outdoor deck.
There's also deck access in the dining area.
The kitchen is painted white, and is outfitted with quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances.
There's a separate room off the kitchen that's currently being used as an office, though you could turn it into a fourth bedroom or family room if you desired.
The stained glass window on the staircase is a nice touch.
The master bedroom is spacious and well-lit.
And the master bathroom has an enviable closet setup.
Here's another bedroom:
And a second bathroom in a mint color.
There's an extra room that looks like it could be a bedroom or another office.
And the house has an outdoor deck with a good wooded view.
Virginia Beach is just under a seven-hour drive from New York City. You can also fly into Norfolk, VA and drive from there.
