A Dumbo duplex with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves beckons your library

Dumbo is the most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn, where you pay a premium over the borough’s median sales price and price per square foot. Despite that, you can still find value in the neighborhood. This two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath duplex, 42 Main St., #8D, is one such option, if you can afford a serious down payment.

For starters, there's lots of space—1,725 square feet of it. The corner unit also has three exposures, so it gets plenty of light throughout the day. The living room comes with built-in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves (the ceiling height is 10 feet), and the open staircase, which includes storage beneath, keeps the space open and bright. For added appeal, there’s a large terrace that's more than 30 feet long just off the kitchen and dining area. The apartment is listed for $2,595,000.


The size and location of the terrace off the living space make it easy to bring the feel of the outdoors inside. It’s also nicely set up for entertaining—there’s enough space for a large grill, table seating, and a sofa and chairs.
