This week brokers told us that people priced out of Manhattan and the closer-in parts of Brooklyn are looking to Bay Ridge for a slower pace, and, importantly, the relative affordability that comes with a longer commute into the city. The neighborhood is home to prewar co-op buildings near the water, more and less elegant townhouses and detached houses, and a handful of new-ish condo buildings.

For those buyers who are interested in a closer look, here are five places of various kinds that are listed for sale and having open houses this weekend.

6911 Shore Rd. #11B

This three bedroom, four bath condo is in a building that was built in 2002. It's listed for $1 million, with an enclosed balcony, and hardwood floors. The open house is set for Sunday, December 3rd, noon-2 p.m.

160 72nd St. #723

A two-bedroom, one-bath corner co-op with hardwood floors, the master bedroom has a walk-in closet, and the kitchen has an island. It's listed for $435,000, and described as recently gut-renovated, with parking available.  The open house is scheduled for Saturday, December 2nd, noon-2 p.m.

8020 Fourth Ave. #E8

This one-bedroom, one-bath co-op looks recently renovated and is on the fifth floor of a prewar elevator building. The asking price is $550,000. The building has bike storage, a gym, and a live-in super. The open house is set for Saturday, December 2nd, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

549 73rd St.

This turn of the 20th century townhouse is split into two units, with a third-floor rental apartment. The ground floor leads to the backyard, and there's an exposed brick fireplace on the second floor. There are seven bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms in all. The owner is looking for $1.488 million. The open house is being held Saturday, December 2nd, noon-3 p.m.

442 Bay Ridge Pkwy

Another townhouse (pictured also at top), this one two and a half stories on Doctors' Row, which is being considered for historic district designation. It has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, plus central air, a fireplace, a finished, windowed basement with a private entrance that is described as zoned to permit a doctor's office. Listed for $1.6 million. The open house is set for Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m.-2 p.m., and 2 p.m.-3 p.m., respectively.
