This West Village two bedroom, two bath with a private roofdeck is listed for $1,999,999.

Are you looking to buy a New York City condo or co-op with private outdoor space? Expect to pay a premium for this coveted amenity, especially in summer when these places are in more demand.

Outdoor space comes in different configurations—and with different price tags. There are apartments with balconies, terraces, patios, and roof decks—and some spaces require more maintenance than others.

You should also check into the building’s rules about what you can and cannot do in your outdoor space. For example, some buildings don’t allow smoking, grilling, or have quiet hours. And to get the most out of the space, make sure it faces in the right direction and isn’t too high (windy) to enjoy.
