In the way it's now configured, this $2,200 Murray Hill co-op studio has space for a living room area, a sleeping area and even a desk. Plus, there's a separate kitchen, which is somewhat rare in studio apartments. Granted you'll probably have to eat most of your meals on your coffee table or your lap, but, hey, for a starter apartment, you could do a lot worse.
Whether your apartment budget is actually around $2 million, or you're just real estate daydreaming, you'll find quite a bit for that price range. And if you're willing to venture out to Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, there are stand-alone houses galore (some with six bedrooms and some with pools!).

Of course, they probably have a coterie of helpers to handle the grunt work, and their pads are significantly nicer than the average New York dwelling.
