NYC apartment rentals with fireplaces for under $5,000

UPPER EAST SIDE: A three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath duplex with a wood-burning fireplace for $4,800 a month.

Although it doesn’t quite feel like it yet, winter is, indeed, coming, and it’ll bring with it the desire to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea in front of a roaring fire.

Here are 10 apartments across New York City—all renting for under $5,000 a month—that have fireplaces on the premises. Even if you don't plan to—or can't—actually build a fire in them, they sure are pretty.

UPPER EAST SIDE: A three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath duplex at 1465 3rd Ave., between East 82nd and 83rd streets, (shown staged at top) with a wall of windows, a marble wood-burning fireplace and a granite kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Located in a four-story building that was built in 1901. $4,800 a month

GREENWICH VILLAGE: A corner one bedroom, one bath at 51 Fifth Ave., between East 11th and East 12th streets, with prewar details, including original oak wood floors and moldings. There are also two walk-in closets, a windowed kitchen, new light fixtures, through-wall air-conditioning, double-paned windows throughout, and a wood-burning fireplace.

The unit is situated in a full-service building with a 24-hour doorman, a live-in super, a fitness room, bike storage, and a central laundry room. It'll set you back $4,995 a month, no broker’s fee. 

MIDTOWN: An 850-square-foot furnished one bedroom, one bath with a large entry foyer, a corner living room, a walk-in closet off the living room, a bar area with a wine fridge, a wood-burning fireplace, a windowed kitchen with stainless steel appliances and polished concrete counters, and heated floors in the bathroom. PARK SLOPE: A three-bedroom, one-bath duplex at 481 12th St., between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West, with two wood-burning fireplaces, exposed brick, wood floors throughout, and central air-conditioning on the upper floor. In a pet-friendly building with a video intercom system, a washer and dryer in the basement, and a roof deck. $4,200 a month, no broker’s fee

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS: An 880-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath penthouse at 100 Atlantic Ave., between Henry and Hicks streets, with a private terrace, a wood-burning fireplace, maple floors, individual climate control, and a dishwasher. In a pet-friendly building with a 1,500-square-foot common roof deck, a part-time doorman, a gym, an elevator, private storage, and a bike room. $4,890 a month, no broker’s fee

CARROLL GARDENS: A 1,400-square-foot three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath duplex at 400 Sackett St., between Smith and Hoyt streets, with two wood-burning fireplaces, exposed brick walls, a large kitchen, a butler’s pantry, hardwood floors, and lots of closets. Located in a cat-friendly three-family brownstone. $4,800 a month

LONG ISLAND CITY: A 650-square-foot one-bedroom, one-bath apartment at 3540 30th St., between 35th and 36th avenues, with an open kitchen, a built-in electric fireplace in the living room, oversized double-paned windows, custom blinds, oak hardwood floors, and a closet in the bedroom. In a condo building with an elevator, a part-time doorman, a full-time super, a video intercom system, laundry facilities on every floor, a gym, a gaming lounge, a shared library, a courtyard, a garden, and a roof deck with grills. Bike storage, storage cages, and a parking space are each available for an additional fee. $2,850 a month, no broker’s fee

REGO PARK: A four-bedroom, two-bath semi-attached house at 88-35 62nd Dr., between Woodhaven Boulevard and Alderton Street, with high ceilings, a large living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, a finished basement with a separate entrance, a laundry room, a two-car garage, a front lawn, and a backyard. $4,300 a month

NORWOOD: A four bedroom, one-and-a-half bath at 3447 Knox Pl., between West Gun Hill Road and West Mosholu Parkway North, with an open kitchen, a dining area, an east-facing living room, a fireplace, and a parking spot in the backyard. In a two-family house built in 1920. $2,895 a month
