You might have some bargaining power if you know how to read a listing carefully. Take this supposed one-bedroom, one-bath apartment, 499 17th St,. #1, in Windsor Terrace. It has a large, private outdoor space. and is asking $2,100, which is less than the median for a one bedroom in the neighborhood, $2,340, according to StreetEasy. It's not really a one bedroom, which may give you some leverage.

The Noho duplex penthouse that sits on top of The Schumacher at 36 Bleecker. a condo building redesigned by architect Morris Adjmi, is apparently the last apartment to sell from the 2015 conversion and a buyer can now get it for significantly less than it was originally asking. There was a 5.5 percent price drop about four weeks ago to its current asking price, $17,900,000.

Listings site RealtyHop has launched a new monthly price drop report for New York City. The report zeros in on neighborhoods with the highest total number of price drops, as well as the biggest percentage drop in median price, and biggest median price drop. The Upper East Side-Carnegie Hill in Manhattan had the most price drops in April.
