Nest Seekers International/out east

The Southampton village of Quogue has long been the place to go if you want to enjoy the beauty of the East End of Long Island without having to put up with the Hamptons scene—or much of the traffic on Route 27.

There are only a handful of local stores and restaurants, like Beth’s Cafe, Quogue Market, and The Quogue Club, a hotel with a gym and restaurant. You can find more places to eat and shop in neighboring East Quogue. The village is known for its beaches like Village Beach, Beach Club, and Hot Dog Beach. There’s also Surf Club, a private beach, and Quogue Wildlife Refuge, a 305-acre nature preserve with trails and ponds.

The Quogue Historic District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is known for its Victorian houses. Throughout the rest of the village, you can find luxury waterfront spreads and smaller houses surrounded by woods that are a quick drive from the beach.

Naturally how much you’ll pay depends on when you plan your vacation. July and August are prime summer months so you can expect to pay a lot more then. Some owners prefer to rent a house for the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, some rentals are available weekly.

If you’re looking to vacation out east, check out these five houses available for rent throughout the summer in Quogue.
