This upstate farmhouse is perfect for leaf peepers

It's peak leaf-peeping season, and whoever buys this $888,000 six-bedroom, four-bath stone farmhouse and estate in New Paltz (a town that appeals to outdoorsy types and gotta-be-near-a-town types alike) is going to get an amazing vista that won't likely change anytime soon. To be more specific: That's a view of the Shawangunk Mountains and Mohonk Preserve, which is protected land and can't be built on.

Outside, there's an in-ground pool, a tree house, a pond, and over two acres of land.

Inside, there's a working fireplace, a hot tub, and a large kitchen with a SubZero fridge, plus lots of counter space.

The finished basement would work well as either a playroom, media room, or a home office.

Moreover, the house is under two hours from the city, which is prime commuting time for a vacation home. In fact, assuming you've got the budget for this place, we can't really think of any reason not to buy it. Can you?
