Mattituck, New York, on the North Fork of Long Island, is a hamlet known for its vineyards, farm stands, beaches, and annual strawberry festival. It’s also a low-key alternative to the Hamptons scene—but while it's not as expensive as what you'll find on the South Fork, it's not cheap here either.

Love Lane is the main drag where you’ll find stores and eateries like Bauer’s Love Lane Shoppe, The Village Cheese Shop, Ammirati’s, and Love Lane Kitchen. There are also spots along Route 25, or Main Road, like North Fork Doughnut Company and Lucia.

If you like the beach, head to Bailie Beach Park, Breakwater Beach, or Veterans Beach. And if you appreciate a good glass of wine, check out vineyards like Macari Vineyards and nearby One Woman Wines & Vineyards.

When it comes to renting a house in the area, you should start planning now because summer rentals are going fast. However, if you’re looking to score a place for the entire summer, you can still find a variety of rentals. But if you only want to stay for a week, you’ll have to be more flexible.

So if you're looking for a last-minute vacation spot, consider these five rental houses in Mattituck.
