The picturesque town of Bennington, located in a river valley in southern Vermont, makes for a great year-round destination. In the summer, Bennington is close to popular hiking spots like Bald Mountain and Harmon Hill, the latter of which makes up part of the Appalachian Trail. In the winter, Bennington—which has experienced mild snowfall so far this season, though certainly more is on the way—is an easy drive to great ski destinations like Stratton Mountain Resort and Bromley Mountain.

Seasonal activities aside, the college town is full of other fun highlights, including a farmer's market, a number of good brewpubs and eateries—like the very popular Madison Brewing Co.'s Pub and Restaurant, for instance, and the celebrated Blue Benn Diner—and fun spots like the Bennington Potters shop and the historic Bennington Battle Monument.

If any of that sounds appealing, considering this 2,986-square-foot, three bedroom, three-bath property at 130 Valley View Dr., now on the market for $437,000. The house was custom-built in 1980 and features unique design touches, including a family room with an arched stone hearth and a pellet stove.

The kitchen has Corian counters, stainless steel appliances, and lots of cabinet space.

There's also a cozy eat-in spot for dining.

The sunroom has mountain and sunrise views.

There's a spiral staircase and marble flooring in the living room.

Other living room highlights include the vaulted ceiling, big wall of windows, and wood-burning fireplace.

It's unclear from the listing if this is also part of the living room, but the windows and wood wall-paneling are gorgeous.

There are three spacious-looking bedrooms on the main level.

In addition to two main-level baths.

Upstairs, there's a bonus bedroom with great vaulted ceiling.

In addition to a private 3/4 bath.

The finished basement has room for an office space and/or home gym.

There's also a laundry room, currently outfitted with new washer and dryer units.

The property's garage can accommodate up to three cars.

The house sits on seven acres of land, which includes a small fenced-in basketball court.

As well as an in-ground heated pool.

There are also two ponds pocketing lush green yards.

The view is incredible.

The house is about a three-and-a-half-hour drive from the city, and a three-hour drive from Boston.
