If you shifted to working from home during the pandemic, you probably have noticed how noisy your New York City apartment is during the weekday. It can be hard to get things done if you’re hearing construction or noise from traffic outside.

That’s why if you’re checking out apartments for sale, you might want to consider a place with soundproof windows. You’re likely to find soundproof windows in new condo developments, and they can also be found in renovated places. (Try adding “soundproof windows” to your search parameters on sites like StreetEasy.)

If you plan to renovate, soundproofing can be added to an apartment to muffle the noise from outside—and next door. For example, you can install new windows with a Sound Transmission Class rating of 60 or higher, which will insulate against most sounds. Insulation can also be added to a ceiling to muffle sound from above.

To help, here are five apartments with soundproof windows for sale in Williamsburg, Lenox Hill, Hunters Point, Murray Hill, and FiDi.
