The Fairfax, located at 201 East 69th Street at Third Avenue, is the former New York City headquarters of the FBI. As a result, apartments have unusual layouts and relatively high 9-foot beamed ceilings. The kitchens and baths are modern. The building has a 24-hour concierge, a gym, and a landscaped roof deck.

According to StreetEasy.com, there are currently six units available in the building, at fairly standard prices for full-service buildings in the neighborhood. These range from a studio listed at $2,465 to a two-bedroom for $4,542. Dogs up to 50 pounds are allowed, as are two cats. According to the building's website, the landlord is offering one month free rent.

No-Fee Building of the Week is writer A. Ready's weekly independent selection of a no-fee rental building that she believes reflects good value given current market conditions. It is not an advertisement for the building, nor is it paid for by any company/website mentioned.
