Rental pick of the week

A North Riverdale house where you can live large and not have to move your car, for $4,400 a month

6036 Liebig Ave. in Riverdale is the rare full-house rental listing in the North Bronx.

The leafy streets and single-family houses of North Riverdale are about as far as you can get from the apartment towers that line many New York City neighborhoods. There's a reason for this: The Bronx neighborhood is so far north that it abuts Yonkers. Indeed, this brick house, 6036 Liebig Ave., #1, listed for rent for $4,400 a month, is just one long block from the Westchester County line. It will be available beginning Jan. 1st, 2019.

Space (the house is a four bedroom, two and a half bath) and sedate vibe aside, you can still get yourself to the buzzing borough of Manhattan easily. Express buses and the 1 train (a short drive or Westchester-run bus ride away at Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street) run into Midtown during rush hour in about an hour and 30 minutes. Employees at the College of Mount Saint Vincent and lovers of Van Cortlandt Park have it better still: Both are just a few blocks' walk away.

As for the house itself, it photographs nicely.

There's a mud room, for crying out loud.

The back deck is pictured with outdoor furniture and a grill, though it's not clear how furnished the house comes.

The living room and dining room are sprawling, offering lots of space to entertain.

The living room opens onto a corner room that faces the street; it's currently configured as an office.

The kitchen has an island that seats four, elaborate cabinetry, and a microwave and a dishwasher.

All the big ground-floor common rooms and at least three bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The bathrooms that we get to see look polished, and don't lack for space.

The sub-basement appears to open onto what remains of the yard below the deck.

The house has a small driveway, but equally importantly, the listing notes that the block has no alternate side parking rules. And a last big bonus: The house has a washer and dryer.

We couldn't find figures for what similar places are renting for, and it stands to reason, as these kinds of houses don't get listed for rent too often, that the listing's description of this as a "rare opportunity" is actually true in this case.
