Six discounted apartments in East Williamsburg are available through the city housing lottery. The apartments are one and two bedrooms in a new four-story building at 246 Johnson Ave., near Bushwick Avenue. They are set aside for households making $35,623-$57,240 a year, with rents set at $1,039 a month for one beds and $1,175 for two beds.

The building is described as having a lounge, a gym, an elevator, a tenant-accessible roof, laundry, and bike storage. Parking is also available for an additional fee. Market-rate one bedrooms in the building have recently rented for $2,750 a month.

246 Johnson is a block from the Montrose Avenue L stop and 10 blocks from the Flushing Avenue J, M, and Z stop. It's not going to be pretty, but the J and M station will come in handy when the L train shutdown starts in April 2019. There are also lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, and venues within walking distance.
