Looking for an apartment for less than $2,000? This midrise elevator building on East 77th Street and First Avenue has apartments with exposed brick, fireplaces and dishwashers. According to no-fee search site UrbanEdgeNY, there are currently three studios available for $1,750-1,800, comparable to the $1,800 median price of studios currently for rent on the Upper East Side.

There is no doorman (nor holiday tipping obligations), but there is video security and a live-in super. Pets are not welcome here. The building is a bit of a hike to the subway, although not egregiously far, and it is close to the new select service bus, the M15, which runs north and south on First and Second Avenues.

No-Fee Building of the Week is writer A. Ready's weekly independent selection of a no-fee rental building that she believes reflects good value given current market conditions. It is not an advertisement for the building, nor is it paid for by any company/website mentioned.
