Burlington, Vermont is a perfect autumnal town. Color change begins in September and turns vibrant by early October, transforming the 42,000-population city and its surrounding area into a picturesque sea of reds, oranges, and yellows. Burlington also has easy access to outdoor wonders like Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks; a stellar local culinary beer scene; the bustling four-block Church Street Marketplace; and the University of Vermont. (And having U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders as an elected representative doesn't hurt, either.)

Housing costs in Burlington are higher than in the rest of the state. According to Zillow, the median price for houses currently listed in Vermont is $296,000, while the median price for houses listed in Burlington is $341,500. But if you're used to Manhattan prices, houses in Burlington may still seem like a deal. Here are some currently on the market.
