Lake George, New York, in the Adirondacks, is a good place to buy a house if you are looking to trade city life to be surrounded by nature, or want a second home on the water to spend the spring and summer.

There’s lots to do outdoors in this lakeside area: You can rent boats and jet skis at marinas like Thunderbird Marina. There’s also plenty of spots to swim and fish like Lake George Beach, Shepard Park, and Million Dollar Beach. If hiking is more of your thing, you can head to nearby Adirondack Park.

On the town’s main drag, you’ll find waterfront restaurants like Lake George Beach Club, The Rooftop Cabana Bar, and Christie’s On The Lake. There are attractions and stores like House of Frankenstein Wax Museum, Beach Road Bait & Tackle, and Fort William Henry Museum.

When it comes to Lake George’s real estate, the median sales price is $327,500, according to Realtor.com. You can find large, waterfront houses near downtown on the west side of the lake and on the east side, houses that are surrounded by nature and have more privacy. Currently, there’s a mix of older homes and new construction on the market.
