Peekskill, New York, a small town on the Hudson River, is less than an hour away from Manhattan on Metro North, making it a good place to relocate if you want more space and nature within commuting distance of the city.

You can get a lot for your money here compared to the city. There are currently 62 houses or apartments listed on Zillow for less than $600,000 and you’ll find a variety of styles including Colonials and Victorians. Most have outdoor space and finished attics or basements (ideal for a home office or for remote learning).

Peekskill is a very walkable city, which is great if you don’t want to drive everywhere. For culture, you can check out the Lincoln Depot Museum and Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art, which features international and local artists. There are also many places to enjoy nature, like Depew Park and over three miles of waterfront with parks and outdoor sculptures. You can also take a cruise from Riverfront Green Park. In downtown Peekskill, you’ll find stores and restaurants like Birdsall House, Gleason’s, and Kathleen’s Tea Room.

So, if Peekskill sounds like a fit for you, here are five houses on the market including a renovated Colonial with a finished basement and a Victorian with a wraparound deck.
