 A New York Times article heralded Warwick, New York's "wide open spaces," and for good reason. The funky, picturesque town, located at the southern tip of Orange County, is one of the largest towns in the state, with over 101 square miles, much of which are taken up with wineries, apple orchards, ski slopes, a big lake, a number of adorable bed and breakfasts, and the historic Village of Warwick, where Martha Washington reportedly hung out during the American Revolution.

Warwick's open spaces are especially inviting to big festivals—the town hosts a bunch, including a Summer Arts Festival, the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, and its annual Applefest, which happens to take place this Sunday. Warwick also borders the town of Tuxedo, home to the state's annual Renaissance Faire, if giant turkey legs and costumed knights and wenches are your thing. Even if it's not, there's a lot to enjoy here, including affordable (and spacious!) real estate.
