Ogunquit is a charming, seaside town in southern Maine, rife with coastal New England delights like dune-lined white sand beaches, salt water taffy spots, lobster shacks (for lobster rolls as well as lobster bakes and dinners), and quiet, beautiful coves. It is also home to the Ogunquit Playhouse, an historic summer-stock theater where Bette Davis, Van Johnson, and Ethel Barrymore performed; and some of the best ice cream in the state of Maine (Sweet Pea's forever).

Housing prices are a little higher in Ogunquit than they are in other parts of Maine—according to Zillow, the median home value in Ogunquit is $484,200, as compared with Maine's statewide home value of $222,600, and listing prices can climb into the millions. But if you want a good deal about a 10-minute drive to the ocean, consider this three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath house at 137 Captain Thomas Rd., now on the market for $384,000.

The house has a lovely little light-filled living area.

It looks like there's also space for a private reading nook or office area.

The kitchen features a spacious breakfast bar, arched windows, and rustic cabinetry.

There's a separate space for dining.

The house has a loft-like design to it, with an exposed wood-beamed ceiling and a skylight.

The master bedroom is on the second level, and has space for a sitting area.

There are two other bedrooms that are equally light-filled.

And some unused attic space you could furnish as you like, or use for storage.

There's a full bath with some nice marble detailing, as well as a half bath.

And here's a shot of the dining area from upstairs.

There's a lovely back porch for entertaining outdoors.

In addition to a spacious yard.

Ogunquit is about a five-hour drive from Manhattan. It's only about a one and a half hour drive from Boston, should you choose to take the train up and drive from there.
