Ardmore, Pennsylvania, one of the former Pennsylvania Railroad’s historic Main Line towns, first settled in 1853, is also ranked the third-best place to live in the state. It offers well-rated public schools, options for shopping and dining, and is less than 30 minutes from Philadelphia.

According to Realtor.com, the median sales price is $355,000 but the majority of the houses currently on the market are in the $500,000 to $1 million-plus range. Here, you’ll find new construction as well as older Tudors and Dutch Colonials. Most houses have outdoor space, fireplaces, home offices, and basements.

Ardmore is home to Suburban Square, one of the first planned shopping centers in the country, where you’ll find stores like Apple and West Elm, local stores, and restaurants like Besito Mexican. Ardmore Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s are also nearby. If you want to spend time outdoors, there’s Normandy Park and Merion Golf Club—if golfing is your thing. And, the public schools check out with an A+ rating, according to Niche.
