Halstead

This two bedroom, two-and-a-half bath is in a townhouse in a historic district in Washington Heights (where Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote some of Hamilton). The house was converted into four condos, and this one is a duplex that occupies the bottom two floors. Listed by Halstead for $989,000, the price is a bit steep for the neighborhood: other two-bedroom condos in Washington Heights are listed on StreetEasy for $520,000-$950,000, though those don't come with this property's historic bona fides or square footage.

The living area (see main image) opens onto a back garden. Ground floor units often suffer from lack of light, but the open floor plan, recessed lighting, and large windows should give the space a sense of airiness. The kitchen looks new and stylish, with a diamond-pattern backsplash and Bosch appliances.

Of the two bedrooms, the one pictured in the listing looks like it's at the front of the building, facing the residential block lined with similar historic townhouses. Both full bathrooms are outfitted with marble tile, one with a tub and one with a walk-in shower. It's hard to tell how much storage space each might offer.

The exterior of has definite curb appeal, and there's more eye candy in the form of the Morris Jumel Mansion, Manhattan's oldest house, right down the block. High Bridge Park is also steps away, and the C train at 163rd Street is a block away.
