Having enough closet space is a challenge in most New York City apartments, especially in older, unrenovated buildings. If you’re looking to buy a place and you have lots clothes (or just like the privacy of a separate dressing area), you will want to focus your search for this amenity in new condo or renovated co-op buildings.

You can find large, walk-in closets or walk-through closets that access the bath among current listings on the market. Many of them have custom cabinetry for an upscale look. Here’s a tip: Pay attention to the width and height of the shelves to make sure they suit your needs. (If you find you need more space, try these organization hacks).
