Quogue is famously one of the East End of Long Island's least scene-y parts, (snobs don't even consider it part of the Hamptons). But you should know that Quogue is charming and not nearly as congested as the swankier parts of the Hamptons, especially East Hampton. But it still has a beautiful beach, multimillion-dollar houses, and an exclusive hotel dubbed the Quogue Club at Hallock House, where rooms start at $275 a night.

Quogue also has charming eateries like Beth's Cafe and Docker's Waterside Marina and Restaurant, a number of cute boutiques and shops, and a country market. There's also the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, a rambling nature preserve with trails, ponds, birds, tortoises, and other wild creatures.

Quogue's real estate is pricey: According to Zillow, the median price of houses currently listed there is $2,799,750, which is even higher than Manhattan's hefty median listing price of $1,550,000. But there are still some deals in the area—consider, for instance, the two-bedroom, two-bath A-frame at 24 Central Blvd. in East Quogue, now on the market for $734,000. The house sits on 5.5 acres of property and features stunning architecture, with a window-lined great room that looks like it's set beneath the sails of a ship. There's also a fireplace:

The great room connects to the open-concept kitchen, stocked with stainless steel appliances, countertops, and a big dining table.

There's a narrow, mirrored bathroom, with a walk-in steam shower and a Jacuzzi tub.

There's a massive, light-filled master bedroom, with patio access and a private bath.

The second bedroom is in the loft, complete with a skylight.

There's an incredible wraparound deck.

Here's a look at it from another angle:

The property includes a separate pool house, which has its own deck.

It contains an indoor Gunite swimming pool, which can be heated.

The grounds look really gorgeous, and, per the listing, include "manicured gardens, open lawn, and perimeter woods."

Here's a shot of the whole property:

The house is about a two-hour drive from Manhattan. You can also take the LIRR's Montauk line to Westhampton or take the Hampton Jitney to Westhampton, then take a cab to Quogue.
