A Central Park West studio, at just 10 percent down, feels larger than its size

Many studio apartments we peruse are designed like fairly indistinguishable boxes, but not this one. Located on Central Park West between 102 and 103rd Street (that's technically Manhattan Valley, in case you were wondering), this $550,000 studio has the charm and features of a much larger apartment, such as a closet-lined foyer, dining area, and walk-in closet.

And while the area isn't exactly prime Central Park West, you will have a one-minute walk to the park. Plus, the pre-war condo building (which in itself is a rarity) has a 24-hr doorman, live-in super, laundry, bike room, and private storage, and is pet- and investor-friendly. Note: There's a special monthly assessment of $52 for the building's reserve fund.

A nice perk: You can put 10 percent (or $55,000)  down.

One caveat: There are no photos of the windowed kitchen, which suggests that it needs work.

But we're thinking that if you want the CPW living experience on a budget (and want to make a sound investment while you're at it), this might be your very best bet.
