Open houses: What half a million will buy you in the city

We're going with a hard number this week: $500,000. In many other places (outside the tri-state area, L.A. and San Francisco, our erstwhile rival in unaffordability—all of which is getting spendy), a half-million would buy you a nest so feathered, you wouldn't want for much. Here in NYC, well, as parents have long been teaching their preschoolers: You get what you get and you don't get upset. (Then again, these are pretty sweet for various reasons.)

115 Eastern Parkway, Apartment 4D, Prospect Heights. A one-bedroom, one-bath in a part-time doorman building with bike room and storage. Asking price: $500,000. Open house: Sunday, June 7, 12 noon to 2 pm.

205 Clinton Avenue, Penthouse A, Clinton Hill. A two-bedroom, one-bath with a spacious master bedroom and wide-open city views. Asking price: $500,000. Open house: Sunday, June 7, 2 pm to 3:30 pm.

166 East 61st Street, Apartment 16J, Upper East Side. A bright, south-facing junior-one-bedroom with a sleeping alcove, dressing area and renovated bathroom. Asking price: $500,000. Open house: Sunday, June 7, 1 to 2:30 pm.

248-07 139th Avenue, Rosedale, Queens. This house has four bedrooms (!), three-and-a-half baths, a renovated kitchen, garden and one-car garage. The master bedroom has a bidet, shower and a jacuzzi. Asking price: $500,000. Open house: Sunday, June 7, 2 pm to 4 pm.
