It’s nice to have options, and this week, within the 10 apartments that made StreetEasy’s Most Wanted list— meaning would-be buyers on StreetEasy.com saved these listings more often than any others — there are several that boast customizable layouts, with flexible floor plans.
A three-bedroom $1.625 million co-op on West 24th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, has an open floor plan that allows for some reconfiguring. But if you need some structure to get you started, there are defined spaces for a foyer, living room, family room, dining room and kitchen. The two full bathrooms have been renovated, and if the 2,050-square-foot loft isn’t enough space, the building offers a communal, landscaped roof garden with views of the Empire State building. Note: there’s a keyed elevator, but no doorman, and the apartment seems a bit view-challenged.
On the Upper West Side on West 79th between Columbus and Amsterdam, a two-bedroom co-op for $1.525 million can be converted into a three-bedroom (the windowed room is currently being used as a home office). The windowed, eat-in kitchen has been fully renovated with custom white cabinets, stone countertops and stainless steel appliances, and there are new sinks, vanities and fixtures in the bathroom. Other perks include a landscaped common roof deck and a common backyard garden.
Seven blocks up, a $1.95 million three-bedroom co-op on West 86th Street can be transformed into a two-bedroom, formal dining room, living room plus den, eat-in kitchen, and office, with “many more options.” The renovated prewar space offers southern exposures, and if you’ve got a hankering to fix your own cocktails, make note of the wet bar, complete with an extra fridge and an ice maker.
