Finding a New York City apartment might be relatively easier right now, since there's so much you can do from the comfort of your living room—like take a 3D tour of a listing. Certainly, the huge supply of available rentals makes the process of finding a new place less competitive. Even so, a move can still feel like an overwhelming ordeal on top of what has been an overwhelming 12 months—so how can you move with the least stress possible?

In this episode of the podcast, professional organizer Janine Sarna-Jones, founder of the company Organize Me, talks with host Emily Myers about how to get and stay organized before a move. She also offers tips on how much time to give yourself, how to pare down your belongings, and even how to time your move.

We go over the questions NYC renters need to face: How do you decide what stays and what goes? And do you have the paperwork you need from your building? There are administrative tasks that are unique to the city and we'll walk you through those steps.

Moving isn't just a logistical feat, it's an emotional one, especially during the pandemic—Sarna-Jones has tips on how to look after yourself during the process.
