Dear Brick Underground readers,

Hello, we're Anh Nguyen and Tyler Blair, and we're beyond thrilled to introduce ourselves to you as Brick Underground’s new publishers.

When Brick founder Teri Rogers embarked on her mission in 2009 to redefine how NYC renters, buyers, sellers, and renovators access news and information, the idea of becoming the leading residential real estate website in NYC seemed ambitious. Fifteen years later, under Teri's leadership, Brick is the leading residential real estate site in NYC and a trusted household name. Today, 3.5 million New Yorkers and prospective residents rely on Brick annually for real estate insights each year. More than 40,000 people subscribe to Brick’s twice-weekly newsletter. And the National Association of Real Estate Editors have awarded Brick Best Real Estate Website three times.

As highlighted in The Real Deal, Brick is here to stay, and we're excited to contribute to its ongoing success.

So how did this all come about?

When Teri first warned the world that Brick might have to stop publishing, readers sprang into action.  Hundreds of impassioned responses filled her LinkedIn page and email box, while industry message boards lamented the imminent demise of yet another independent local publisher.

When we read about Brick’s looming closure in other press reports, we were among the many upset by the news. Brick had been instrumental in both of our lives from navigating rentals to co-op purchases to simply living day-to-day in New York, and we couldn’t imagine a world without it. Brick even helped us keep our houseplants alive (apparently not all plants love direct sunlight).

We made an offer to buy Brick in order to continue to publish authentic stories and helpful information, written and shared by real people (not AI) you can trust. It is a true honor that Teri accepted our offer and entrusted us to continue her work.

Fast forward to today, we are elated to take over management of Brick and ecstatic to announce that Brick’s team of editors, writers, and contributors will be staying on to help us continue Brick’s mission to help you live your best New York City real estate life, and Teri herself is continuing as part of the advisory team!

Who are we?

We are two New York City transplants (Tyler is from Boston and Anh is from Connecticut) whose mission is to ensure that Brick continues publishing practical, consumer-friendly real estate information that will support current and future readers the way it has helped us.

Anh Nguyen’s professional background spans Egyptology, pharmacology, and digital content and media management for several NYC-area nonprofits. She plans to leverage her experience organizing digital conferences to create new ways to connect Brick Underground’s readers with the information they need to live their best real estate lives. She will also lead content strategy and audience development, working with the editors, writers, and contributors that are the heart of Brick‘s success. A three-time renter and first-time co-op owner in Greenwich Village, Anh enjoys exploring new neighborhoods with her two Pomeranians and tackling DIY home improvement projects.

Tyler Blair is an entrepreneur and part of the founding team of Basil, a technology startup for organizing creative talent. Tyler was lured to New York City while working as a real estate attorney for Shake Shack. He is currently renting a one bedroom apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, which he landed after navigating the rental market without a traditional W-2 job. Tyler is quickly getting to know all of Brick’s advertising partners as he will lead business and technology operations for Brick.

We are both deeply appreciative of Teri's incredible legacy and what she has created. We’re excited to embark on this journey with you and we thank all of you for believing in Brick Underground and our mission.

We’re also excited to begin hosting events—and we can’t wait to meet you in person!  Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X (Twitter) and you’ll be among the first to know about the upcoming schedule!

Have an idea, question or feedback to share?

We would love to hear more! You can send us an email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Tyler & Anh
