Last-Minute Getaway

Spend THIS weekend in Mystic, Connecticut (your kids will love it!)

Having just returned from a weekend in Mystic, Connecticut, we're all about the cute New England town by the water.

It's truly heavenly for families — with the Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport and, of course, Mystic Pizza (your kids may have no idea about the Julia Roberts film, but they'll appreciate the food), offering plenty to do with the little ones. And it's just over two hours from the city (depending on traffic, of course).

And this three-bedroom, one-bath apartment in downtown Mystic is available this coming weekend (and others this summer) for $250 a night. (Note, one of the bedrooms has a futon rather than a bed.)

The apartment is spread across the second and third floors of a house built in the 1800s, and is just three blocks from Mystic Seaport.

Added bonus: The first floor is used as an office only on weekdays, so you get the place to yourself for the weekend.

For young children, the owners provide a stroller, high chair, portable crib, and toys.

And kids can play in the backyard or on the porch. Plus—and this is a major plus for parents—there's a washer/dryer.
