Newport, Rhode Island is known for its historic mansions, beaches, waterfront parks, and as a popular sailing destination. It’s also a great place to buy a house if you’re ready for more space.

You can find a variety of styles in Newport, including cottages, New England colonials, and shingle-style houses. Many have private outdoor space like brick or pebble patios or backyards—and are close to historical sites and the waterfront.

And you’ll get more bang for your buck: The median sales price in the area is $531,581, according to Zillow

Newport has three National Historic Landmark Districts known for their well-preserved colonial architecture and homes. Many of the area’s historic Gilded Age mansions like The Breakers and The Elms are open for public tours. For more to do, explore the waterfront at Cliff Walk, Van Zandt Pier, and Easton’s Beach and stop for something to eat at White Horse Tavern.
