Residents have anecdotes about running into the Clintons on nature walks or around town.

Chappaqua, New York, is a hamlet in Northern Westchester County. It is notably home to Bill and Hillary Clinton, and where Hillary famously retreated following the bruising 2016 presidential election. Clinton's healing walks in the Chappaqua woods seem all the more restorative when you consider the hamlet's abundant natural beauty and semi-rural setting.

A Chappaqua transplant described the area to The New York Times, "When I pull off the road after the long trip home from work and finally come up our driveway, I feel like I’ve gone on vacation to the Adirondacks."

Of course, there's more than just the woods to enjoy. Chappaqua, which was settled by Quakers in 1730, has top-ranked public schools, family-run shops, a weekly farmer's market, quaint eateries like Crabtree's Kittle House, and an abundance of beautiful houses on rambling acres. Property in Chappaqua isn't cheap—the median listing price is $999,000, according to Zillow—but you get plenty of space for your money. Consider, for instance, the four-bedroom, three-bath contemporary house at 569 Millwood Rd., now on the market for $700,000.

The house, which sits on a 1.35-acre lot, features a massive living room with abundant windows to take in the views and high ceilings. The sliding doors open to a deck.

In addition to the living room, there's a family room with a stone fireplace.

There's also space for a dining table.

The contemporary architectural details are a nice touch, like these stairs to the second level.

The master bedroom is located upstairs, and looks super spacious.

There's a glass-enclosed shower in the master bath.

The other three bedrooms are also located on the second floor.

It looks like they all get a fair amount of light.

Outdoor highlights include the gardens surrounding the house proper.

There's also what looks like a lovely, rambling yard.

And a paved driveway with an attached two-car garage.

And, finally, the deck, which looks ideal for lounging and entertaining.

Other highlights include a full basement with a woodworking area, and central cooling throughout the house. The property is just over a one-hour drive from the city, or you could take Metro-North's Harlem line to Chappaqua.
