Broadway star Laura Benanti had a proposal with a real estate spin

WHO: Actress Laura Benanti recently met up her boyfriend at their new apartment thinking contractors would be there to discuss renovations. But the contractor meeting was a ruse, and instead, once there, her beau proposed. That must qualify as the best contractor no-show meeting ever. When our painters called in sick once, all we got was a free can of paint thrown onto the bill.

WHERE: Tony Award-winning Benanti paid $1.02 million for a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment in Harlem, where the median sales price is $1.075 million and the median rental price is $2,400.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE: There's a similar apartment with a similar price tag available at 234 West 148th Street. But if you're looking for an apartment that, like Benanti's, is close to Morningside Park, check out this two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 301 West 115th Street that's asking $1.359 million.
