Sleepy Hollow's infamous headless horseman is (allegedly) fictional, but the village itself is quite real, and located just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge in Westchester County. With a population of around 9,870, Sleepy Hollow is indeed sleepy. It's home to gorgeous historic mansions as well as the even grander colonial Philipsburg Manor and Kykuit, the former Rockefeller estate, which is now a museum with art galleries.

Of course, all that grandeur comes at a price—according to Trulia, the median home price is $735,000 and that's expected to climb. Still, compared to Manhattan prices, you get a lot of space for that amount. Take for example this four-bedroom, four-bath colonial, which is about a four minute walk from the church, now on the market for $889,000.

The house was built in 1928.

It has a large foyer.

There's a renovated modern kitchen with white cabinets and light stone countertops.

There's also a large mudroom.

There's a cozy living room with bay windows and a fireplace.

And a separate, sunlit dining room.

There's another fireplace in a second living room.

The guest bathroom has a white-tiled tub and shower.

The house also includes a lovely green-painted sunroom with a ceiling fan.

The master bedroom is spacious.

And the massive master bathroom has a gorgeous intricate vanity.

There are two other bedrooms upstairs.

There's a guest room downstairs.

This is presumably the guest bathroom.

In terms of outdoor space, there's a beautiful back patio.

And a detached garage.

The house also has a finished basement with a wine cellar.

Sleepy Hollow is less than an hour's drive from New York City, or you can take Metro-North's Hudson line from Grand Central Terminal to Philipse Manor, in Sleepy Hollow, which also takes a little less than an hour.
