This two-bedroom, one-bath co-op at 117 Seaman Ave., #5C, is priced right at $449,000 with a maintenance of $677. (According to StreetEasy, the median price for a two bedroom in the area is $619,000.) But there's a one major drawback: Its fifth-floor location in a non-elevator building. So perhaps you could cut out the gym membership for even more savings.

The apartment is in a prewar building, so it retains some of that early 20th century charm, such as nine-foot ceilings and hardwood floors, and has some updated features as well.

The updated, windowed kitchen includes features such as a banquette, high-end appliances, a vented hood, and even a garbage disposal; there's also a washer and dryer in the kitchen.

The bedrooms aren't huge, but they do have closet space.

The bathroom is updated, but also has a claw-foot tub.

The building is pet-friendly, equipped with Verizon Fios, and is two blocks from the A train at 207th Street. Inwood Hill Park is a block away, and Fort Tryon Park and The Cloisters are close as well. Broadway provides ample opportunity for dining and shopping.
